Waiting for the next wave

“Life is a lot like surfing… When you get caught in the impact zone, you’ve got to just get back up. Because you never know what may be over the next wave.” ― Bethany Hamilton, Soul Surfer: A True Story of Faith, Family, and Fighting to Get Back on the Board

The new young batch of Amihan Team is composed of future power skimboarders in Dahican Beach, Mati, Davao Oriental. They are still trained and disciplined by Jun “Bochok” Plaza, the founder of the original Amihan Boys who have grown up and moved on to find work and life elsewhere.  I had fun taking photos with the young ones during their early morning practice.  Though I didn’t camp for the night, I arrived on a chilly break of dawn to wait for these kids.
