A Black Saturday for Christians symbolizes a solemn period of reflection and prayers, church visits, vigil services and other observances in preparation for Easter celebration. Today, people continue to follow daily routines or travel on long trips with family and friends to take advantage of a long weekend.
Ha Long’s Thien Cung Cave (Heavenly Palace Cave)
Legend has it that the Thien Cung cave was the ancient residence of the Dragon King and his beautiful bride, May. Their spectacular wedding was once attended by gods, fairies, genies and dragons, many of whose images depict the stalactites and stalagmites that fill the huge cavern like an impressive mural of an ancient lavish banquet.

August’s rare super blue moon glows in the sky
August’s rare super blue moon rose on Wednesday night, the second super moon to fascinatingly occur this month. Its first super moon (Sturgeon Moon) appeared last August 1.

What’s so special about the Super Moon this August 2023? First, there are two super full moons — the Sturgeon Moon on August 1 and the Blue Moon (nicknamed for rarely occurring on the same month) on August 30.

Ompo Odis, as she is fondly called, is blessed with 13 children, three were deceased. She does not remember her childhood, the war and the Japanese occupation. She recalled bits and fragments of memories that brought a sad smile or two on her beautiful face.

Before the pandemic, cosplay events were a regular thing in the city and a cause for excitement among young and old avid dressers. I’m just glad the hype is slowly getting back in the malls. I didn’t bring my usual gears, though. Instead I brought an old camera just for fun.
