“Children keep us in check. Their laughter prevents our hearts from hardening. Their dreams ensure we never lose our drive to make ours a better world. They are the greatest disciplinarians known to mankind.” ~ Queen Rania of Jordan
When I chanced upon this child in the remote coastal shore of Tabina (Zamboanga del Sur), he had his back to me, sitting on a log, looking somewhat forlornly at the distant horizon.

I started taking photos, and he turned to look at me. I gazed into the most soulful eyes I have ever seen you can imagine. Though he wasn’t exactly sad or lonely, you would want to wish a better future for him.

Eventually, I was able to coax him into smiling, and it transformed him so much. Nothing warms the heart more than when you are able to make a child smile for the smallest of reasons.
More on the art of child photography soon.
