“Every day, think as you wake up, today I am fortunate to be alive, I have a precious human life, I am not going to waste it. I am going to use all my energies to develop myself, to expand my heart out to others; to achieve enlightenment for the benefit of all beings. I am going to have kind thoughts towards others, I am not going to get angry or think badly about others. I am going to benefit others as much as I can.” ― Dalai Lama XIV

My aerial photo on Silkwinds cover

Silkwinds April 2014 Cover by Jojie Alcantara This is my cover photo of aerial Boracay waters in April 2014 issue of Silkwinds, the inflight magazine of SilkAir (Regional Wing of Singapore Airlines). I shot the fishermen and boat from a helicopter over Boracay.  This is my second aerial photo on cover of an international airline magazine.

Thank you from the Filipino people

Survival after the storm “Faith is not simply a patience that passively suffers until the storm is past. Rather, it is a spirit that bears things – with resignations, yes, but above all, with blazing, serene hope.” ~ Corazon Aquino We, the Filipino people, embrace the gift of hope and overwhelming support from all over the world. Your openhearted assistance and extended hands mean so much to a struggling nation eager to rise up again from the odds. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. May God bless us all.

When life is breathtaking

“In the end, it’s not going to matter how many breaths you took, but how many moments took your breath away.” ~Shing Xiong Sunbather at Puca Beach, Boracay, Philippines  2006 Update:  Out of all the islands in the world, Travel+Leisure Magazine chose to name Boracay as its Best Overall Island of 2012. Located in Malay, Aklan, Western Visayas, Boracay is just seven kilometers long, and less than a kilometer wide at its narrowest point – a postcard-sized tropical paradise. (source)
