Years ago in 2003, we shot Hinatuan’s Enchanted River on our film camera. I wrote about it in the local paper, and eventually in Mabuhay Magazine, Manila Bulletin and other publications.
I’ve seen better days,
but I have also seen worse.

but I do have all I need.

Though he had fleshed out a great iconic character called Spock seemingly devoid of feelings, the man behind it was actually a gentle individual filled with beautiful emotions which he turned into poetry. I have loved the simplicity of his words. His photography was a gift he has harnessed since his teenage years in the 40s. Nimoy will forever be in our hearts. Live long and prosper, Spock. Today, I remember the goodness of your heart, your presence that I missed so much, and I don’t know whether to greet you with a Happy Birthday or Happy Valentines’ Day.
One particular sandstone head fell into the roots of a banyan tree they call a Bodhi Tree, considered sacred and symbolic to Buddhism. Over the years, this head became miraculously embedded in the tangled overgrowth, which created a stunning and powerful imagery to what the historic war represented.

I visited Zamboanga before and after a rebel siege in the city a year ago that left a portion of the central town bruised and battered, and kept many wary visitors away and in fear. Foreign travel advisories stay adamant. I expected to focus on remnants of a combat zone, but there were other things that captivated me more.

The beautiful but endangered Organ Pipe Coral (Tubipora musica) on the Great Sta. Cruz Island in Zamboanga is bright red in color and naturally pulverized among its fine powdered white sands, turning its sandy shore to a magical tinge of pink at daytime, hence the name Pink Sand Beach.
