Davor, the Sperm Whale

Serving as a memorial and a symbol of the rich biodiversity of our seas, DAVOR’s immense skeletal display (almost complete except for the teeth, one fin and an eardrum) will be open to the public on January 8, 2014 in Subangan Davao Oriental Provincial Museum in the Tourism Provincial Complex, Mati City.

Welcome 2014

“Each New Year, we have before us a brand new book containing 365 blank pages. Let us fill them with all the forgotten things from last year—the words we forgot to say, the love we forgot to show, and the charity we forgot to offer.” ― Peggy Toney Horton

Journey of life

“It’s funny how, in this journey of life, even though we may begin at different times and places, our paths cross with others so that we may share our love, compassion, observations, and hope. This is a design of God that I appreciate and cherish.”
― Steve Maraboli,

Sunrise for Sylvia

“It is with hope that each sunrise I give her cheers her more today than yesterday, and that she will accept my messages of hope and love. This is for a very outrageous character who gives everyone around her a renewed zest for life just as she does.”

Philippine Legoland

Philippine Legoland in SM Lanang Davao In observance of Independence Day, a unique exhibit embraces the Department of Tourism’s slogan with a twist, “It’s More Fun in the Philippines with LEGO,” showing the beauty and diversity of the country through a display of the familiar bricks and colors that fascinate both young and old alike.

Cagwait’s White Beach

The small municipality of Cagwait in Surigao del Sur has a hidden paradise to boast of and a festivity to crow about. Blessed with a horseshoe-shaped cove with a long stretch of fine powdered sand and surrounded by azure colors matching sky and sea, the White Beach (or Waikiki, as the famous American aviator Charles Lindbergh called it the first time he saw it) is a tourism potential once known only to its neighboring municipalities until now.

Never stop yourself from living

“Life is painful and messed up. It gets complicated at the worst of times, and sometimes you have no idea where to go or what to do. Lots of times people just let themselves get lost, dropping into a wide open, huge abyss. But that’s why we have to keep trying. We have to push through all that hurts us, work past all our memories that are haunting us. Sometimes the things that hurt us are the things that make us strongest. A life without experience, in my opinion, is no life at all. And that’s why I tell everyone that, even when it hurts, never stop yourself from living.” ― Alysha Speer Learning from another woman’s survival, and getting inspired with her story of pain and determination. Change for the better

“Once I was looking through the kitchen window at dusk and I saw an old woman looking in. Suddenly the light changed and I realized that the old woman was myself.  You see, it all happens on the outside; inside one doesn’t change.” — Molly Keane

Seize a happy moment

“I have been through a lot and have suffered a great deal. But I have had lots of happy moments, as well. Every moment one lives is different from the other. The good, the bad, hardship, the joy, the tragedy, love, and happiness are all interwoven into one single, indescribable whole that is called life. You cannot separate the good from the bad. And perhaps there is no need to do so, either.” ~ Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis

The joy of living

“If the sight of the blue skies fills you with joy, if a blade of grass springing up in the fields has power to move you, if the simple things of nature have a message that you understand, rejoice, for your soul is alive.” ~Eleonora Duse Wishing everybody a Christmas filled with unwavering hope, limitless love and bountiful blessings in life.

Life is a daring adventure

“Security is mostly a superstition. It does not exist in nature, nor do the children of men as a whole experience it. Avoiding danger is no safer in the long run than outright exposure. Life is either a daring adventure, or nothing.” ~ Helen Keller Skimboarder in Dahican, Mati, Davao Oriental during the 12th Sambuokan Festival 2012 © Jojie Alcantara Mati is known for its long, gorgeous coastlines of white sand beaches and sparkling blue waters perfect for surfing.
