Beautiful Kata Beach

“The sea does not reward those who are too anxious, too greedy, or too impatient. One should lie empty, open, choiceless as a beach – waiting for a gift from the sea.” ~ Anne Morrow Lindbergh

One of the most beautiful long beaches I’ve seen (apart from my beloved shorelines of Davao Oriental) is the Kata Beach‘s 1.5km (1 mile) long strip of golden sand in Phuket, Thailand. This has become a popular all around beach favorite because of its combination of beauty, accessibility, and activities. Soaking up in the sun are hundreds of people who are said to fill up the shore daily. A family environment, it has varied accommodation options close to the beach from resorts, restaurants, nightlife to shopping outlets.

During the north-east monsoon season (November to April) the warm sea is said to be flat, crystal clear and turquoise in color, perfect for sunbathers.  The south-west monsoon season (May to October) is rough for swimming conditions, but a perfect time for surfers.

I flew in from Manila, Philippines to Phuket, Thailand within four hours, flight courtesy of Cebu Pacific Airlines. Check www.cebupacificair.com for schedules and promo rates. Thank you, Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT).
