The Haunting

The Haunting, a Halloween fantasy photoshoot

The Haunting, a Halloween fantasy photoshoot

This image of a supernatural child is a handiwork of my overactive imagination, and as a result, won first place in the 212th Pbase Show and Tell Photo Competition.  I am currently hosting and judging the 213th Show and Tell with a theme of my choice.

The Haunting was a fun shoot I have long wanted to do last year because I am an avid Asian horror fanatic with an outrageous collection of films. With the help of friends, superb models and stylists, we came up with a spooky shoot for Halloween 2010 where my fantasy to create haunted images came true.

With limited resources for special effects like blood and gore, I concentrated more on what scares me — ghostlike specters, facial expressions, misty scenes, and eerie atmosphere. I wanted a ghostly child appearing in dark corridors because it is a frightening spectacle.

Good thing Fiona’s parents approved her first Halloween shoot. However, she wasn’t allowed to look at the mirror so that she won’t scare herself.  See how cute she really is.

A million thanks to parents JunJun and Mai Isidro who joined us in full support because “Fiona loves scary movies”, haha!
