“We do not believe in ourselves until someone reveals that deep inside us something is valuable, worth listening to, worthy of our trust, sacred to our touch. Once we believe in ourselves we can risk curiosity, wonder, spontaneous delight or any experience that reveals the human spirit.” ~ e.e.cummings
Those are my feet with very good friend Sylvia Canete parasailing together in Boracay in 2007. High above the waters, we talked about aspirations and acceptance of life. At that time, she was already into chemotherapy for her cancer treatment yet she was always her cheerful self. Up in the air, she told me ever so quietly how she was ready “to go” anytime.
In the quiet of space around us, life became precious, immeasurable and something worth living for.
Postscript Dec. 2011: Rest in peace, my dearest friend, Sylvia. You have lived life so fully and that’s how we will always remember you…with that sparkle in your eyes and the laughter that echoes in the air. View postcards I created for her called Sunrise for Sylvia.
