Round and Red

Sunrise in Phnom Penh by Jojie Alcantara

During a week of stay in Phnom Penh, Cambodia (2011), I woke up each dawn for two days just to capture its beautiful red sunrise from the Tonle Sap River by the Sisowath Quay, which was near my hotel. Shrouded by haze, the amazing perfect circle that rises from the river’s horizon mesmerizingly changes from shades of pink, lavender to red before turning golden yellow. It was the first time I could gaze at the sun through my lens without squinting.
